Fascial Movement Taping

Movement is the key to life.  However, movement can also cause pain and dysfunction if there are biolmechanical imbalances.  The combination of chiropractic treatment and kinesiology taping can correct these imbalances and restore proper function.

While you may have seen kinesiology tape on professional athletes, you may not realize what else RockTape has to offer.  RockTape has taken kinesiology taping further utilizing movement pattern taping, stability control, myofascial therapy, and pain relief.  They also specialize in topical pain relievers, mobility tools, and rehabilitation.

What it does

  • Decreases pain by signaling the central nervous system and interfering with pain feedback.

  • Decompresses an area of swelling and inflammation by lifting skin away from muscle and fascia, which promotes healing and reduces swelling.

  • Delays muscle fatigue

  • Normalizes muscle tone

  • Distributes physical stress by promoting proper biomechanics and allowing ideal movement.

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy

Dr. Sellers utilizes a protocol known as FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab) that is designed to loosen muscles while restructuring the fascial layers between the skin and muscle.  This protocol also has direct benefits, such as increased blood flow to the area, decreased swelling, improved scar healing, and promotion of healing factors.

How it works

The provider will utilize a small metal tool to work the area of complaint while the patient active reproduces the motion of chief complaint.  For example, if the patient had knee pain while squatting down, the provider would treat the knee pain while the patient actively performed a squat.  This treatment is great for all types of muscle/joint aches and pains, and has seen tremendous results.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of holistic medicine used by the chinese, egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures.  Cupping helps relieve pain, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.  Many patients describe the therapy as feeling like they just had a deep tissue massage.  Tradition cups are made of glass, plastic, or silicone, and can be used for a wide variety of conditions.

How it works

Cupping can be performed in 2 different ways dependent on the desired outcome and treatment indications.

  • The provider will place cups on the area of treatment and leave them there for up to a few minutes.  This is designed to target specific areas that need treatment.
  • Cupping can be used in conjunction with lotion in order to work a larger area of the body.  The provider will use a lighter suction level and slide the cup(s) over the area.

Active Myofascial Release

Active release consists of targeted neuromuscular stretching in which the patient moves through a series of active movements while the doctor stretches the muscles.  You may have heard this referred to as Active Release Technique, which is a popular branded protocol of myofascial release.
